Meet the Photographer
I am an amateur photographer that loves taking photos to capture memories, moments and events that may not otherwise be captured.
This predominantly means of the sports clubs I am involved with, supporting events that my friends run as brilliant and dedicated volunteers, things my children are involved in and of course family and friends.
The advent of smartphones has meant that anyone can take great photos in the right setting, but there is still a place for the skill of a photographer, the quality that a dedicated camera can capture and the eye and patience it takes to produce a set of images that people are hugely grateful for.
I have a day job that is intense, can be thankless and is emotionally challenging, spending an hour shooting cyclists in an evening, or a day on weekend capturing a running event where competitors have trained for months to raise money in memory of a loved one, or to ensure a charity providing care can continue to do so or simply to get over personal battles. Seeing the joy in their face, reading their words of thanks (often accompanied by stories) and seeing how they use the images is the payment.
It of course helps that I do enjoy the process of taking and creating images in the first place.
